CHARLEY KILLIAN FOR GASTON COUNTY COMMISSIONER
Riverbend District • Write-In Candidate
Riverbend District • Write-In Candidate
I am not a packaged politician. I’m a working parent, a husband, and a lifelong neighbor raised on a Gaston County family farm that my family has cared for since 1864.
I’m running for County Commissioner as an independent-minded write-in candidate because I believe local government should answer to your kitchen table, not courthouse insiders or out-of-town developers. My foundation is built on common sense:
Prioritize Our Classrooms: Stop spending public tax dollars on special-interest vanity projects and put our money straight into supporting our local schools and frontline teachers.
Brake Unchecked Growth: Put a firm, responsible brake on out-of-control residential subdivisions that crowd our schools, gridlock our roads, and drive up property tax bills for regular homeowners.
Stand on the Ground, Not a Platform: I don't shout promises from a stage. I believe in listening to all sides, gathering real community input, and finding common-sense solutions that work for everyday Gaston County families.
Public tax dollars must go toward retaining frontline classroom teachers and fixing our school funding formulas before a single dime is spent on recreational vanity projects.
We must use the Board's power to slash the base residential property tax rate to offset revaluation hikes and protect working families from being priced out of their homes. The next scheduled countywide property tax revaluation in Gaston County will take effect on January 1, 2027. Do we want another 2023 hike where Residential averaged +85% while Commercial and Industrial was +50%!
Growth must pay for itself. We will enforce strict standards to halt unchecked subdivision sprawl that gridlocks our local roads and crowds our local classrooms.
We reject corporate contributions entirely. Chip in today to help print high-contrast roadside yard signs for your neighborhoods. "State law caps individual donations at $6,800, but because we are running a lean, grassroots campaign, we aren't looking for big-money checks. Whether you can chip in $5, $10, $50, or just help spread the word to your neighbors, every bit helps us get our write-in message out across Gaston County—and remember, win or lose, every leftover dollar in our account goes straight to Gaston County Public Schools! via the Gaston County Education Foundation"

"Hey neighbor,
I wanted to share why I'm casting a write-in vote for Charley Killian for Riverbend District Commissioner this November.
Charley isn't a career politician—he’s a working neighbor raised on a Gaston County family farm established back in 1864. He’s stepping up to fight for common-sense county budget priorities: funding our classroom teachers instead of luxury courthouse vanity projects, stopping unchecked residential subdivision sprawl that gridlocks our local roads and highways, and protecting homeowners from artificial property revaluation tax hikes.
Because he is running a grassroots write-in campaign, his name won't be printed on the ballot paper. It takes five extra seconds to write in Charley Killian and completely fill in the selection oval next to his name.

Let's put common sense back in local government!"
